Barcelona announced that the property of the club was not used as a guarantee and that there was no need to take such a mortgage on the stadium.
The football giant from Catalonia secured 1.45 billion euros from several investors to start the renovation of the Camp Nou stadium, the club announced.
Barcelona will start paying off the operations when the stadium works are completed. The seating capacity increases from 99,300 to 105,000.
“The project is essential when it comes to keeping the club at the forefront of world sports and is one of the foundations for the club’s economic recovery,” the announcement said.
The club started working on the stadium in order to adapt it to the team’s rehearsals and the requirements of domestic and international competitions.
