The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) remains optimistic about appointing Carlo Ancelotti as the next manager of Brazil, despite ongoing rumors linking him to a potential contract renewal with Real Madrid.
Ancelotti has consistently stated his commitment to completing his three-year contract with Real Madrid, set to conclude at the end of the current season. Despite persistent speculations surrounding his interest in managing Brazil, the 64-year-old has never led a national team.
Brazil, facing uncertainties in their coaching position amid a recent string of poor performances, particularly evident in their winless streak of four 2026 World Cup qualifiers under interim manager Fernando Diniz, including a recent defeat to arch-rivals Argentina.
While Brazil’s World Cup qualification spot remains secure due to additional places available, the CBF is keen on resolving their managerial situation. The urgency is heightened by the absence of international fixtures until March.
Reports from Spain have suggested that Ancelotti could be enticed into extending his contract with Real Madrid, who are actively pursuing La Liga and Champions League titles in the 2023-24 season. However, the CBF, as reported by GOAL, remains unfazed, expressing confidence that Ancelotti will join Brazil in May or June of the upcoming year.
Ednaldo Rodrigues, the president of the CBF, reportedly shares this opinion, and there are presently no plans to explore alternative managerial options. Additionally, Fernando Diniz, concurrently managing Fluminense, is expected to lead Brazil in friendly internationals against England and Spain in March.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid is allegedly considering potential replacements for Ancelotti, with Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi reportedly on their shortlist. However, with no imminent developments anticipated, Ancelotti is focused on securing a victory against Cadiz on Sunday to propel Real Madrid back to the summit of the La Liga table, with Girona not playing until Monday.
As the managerial chessboard evolves, the football world awaits the resolution of Ancelotti’s future and the confirmation of Brazil’s next leader, setting the stage for intriguing developments in the coming months.
