Sliema made two changes from the team that drew with Hibernians, bringing in Vito Plut and new signing Wescley Matos da Silva in place of Neil Frendo and Jonata. Conversely, Marsaxlokk implemented four changes, selecting Karl Micallef, Nikolai Muscat, Patrick Nonato, and Lucas Lopez over Jake Ghio, Enmy Pena Beltre, Nikola Raden, and Duane Bonnici.

The decisive goal came ten minutes into the game when Wescley’s shot from inside the area left goalkeeper Marko Drobnjak helpless.
