Marsaxlokk sign Federico Marchetti

Marsaxlokk has acquired the services of Federico Marchetti, a former goalkeeper for the Italian national team.

After being released by Hamrun Spartans at the conclusion of the previous season, the forty-one-year-old goalkeeper found himself clubless. Marchetti, who came up through the ranks of Torino, had loan stints with Pro Vercelli, Crotone, and Treviso. He was then purchased by AlbinoLeffe and entered into a co-ownership agreement with Biellese before eventually being bought back by AlbinoLeffe. In 2008, he made a move to Cagliari, where he spent three years. In 2011, Marchetti joined Lazio and quickly established himself as one of the team’s key players. After seven years with Lazio, he transferred to Genoa, where he stayed for four years. Last January, Marchetti signed a six-month contract with Spezia in Serie A.
