Floriana scored twice in the second half to beat Mosta 2-0 in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Opening Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Thursday.
Following a goalless first half, the Greens managed to take the lead eleven minutes in the second half when off a freekick from the right, Kemar Reid headed the ball home past goalkeeper Udoh Akpan.
Floriana sealed the issue six minutes in added time when they were awarded a penalty after Joao Teixeira floored Jake Grech inside the area and Franklin Sasere converted from the penalty spot.
Naxxar Lions and Melita earned a point each in a goalless draw in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Opening Round at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Thursday.
This was the second successive draw for Melita following the 2-2 draw with Sliema Wanderers. They stay one point ahead of Naxxar, who were coming from a heavy 0-6 defeat to Naxxar Lions.
Melita created the better chances throughout the first half, going close with attempts by Andre. However, during the second half, Naxxar held the initiative, going close to taking the lead through Gustavo Barbosa and Yasukaze Ito.
