Birkirkara FC unveil special away kit to mark 75th anniversary

In celebration of the club’s 75th anniversary, Premier League side Birkirkara FC have launched a commemorative away kit. The kit, featuring yellow and green colours, pays tribute to the club’s early years in Maltese football competitions, serving as a nod to its rich history.

Speaking at the unveiling, club president Michael Valenzia described the new kit as a gift to Birkirkara’s loyal fans and a gesture to ensure the past is not forgotten. He emphasised that the club’s traditional red and yellow colours will remain its primary identity, with the new kit used only when regulations require the team to play in an alternative strip. The kit will debut during Saturday’s clash against Balzan in the Round of 32 of the Meridianbet FA Trophy.

During the presentation, Valenzia reiterated the club’s primary goal of remaining relevant both this season and in the years ahead. Reflecting on the team’s current form, he expressed satisfaction with their performance, noting that a spot in the title playoffs is almost secured. However, he emphasised that final assessments will be made at the end of the season in May.

Regarding squad reinforcements, Valenzia confirmed that, in addition to two players already signed, the club plans to make at least two or three more acquisitions before the January transfer window closes. When asked about Maltese international defender Zach Muscat, Valenzia confirmed that the player is currently training with the squad and may be part of the club’s plans if he does not secure a move abroad. On Kurt Zammit, the president clarified that the player remains under contract and that selection decisions are at the discretion of the coach.

Valenzia also took the opportunity to thank three departing players for their contributions, while expressing gratitude to the club’s supporters and volunteers, whom he credited with keeping the club strong. He extended his thanks to former presidents, particularly Victor Zammit, whom he credited with putting Birkirkara FC on the map.

Acknowledging the role of sponsors, Valenzia expressed appreciation for Nike, the club’s technical sponsor responsible for the new kit, and Wood Ness Sport, the club’s main sponsor for the next three years.

The unveiling of the new away kit represents a significant moment in Birkirkara FC’s history, honouring its origins while maintaining a forward-looking vision for continued success on and off the pitch.
