Inter Milan will play Fluminense tonight in the FIFA Club World Cup round of 16. Inter are aiming for their second Club World Cup title. They’re in good form, having topped their group and recently beaten River Plate 2-0. New coach Cristian Chivu is unbeaten so far with two wins and one draw.
Fluminense reached the knockout stage after drawing 0-0 with Mamelodi Sundowns. They didn’t manage a shot on target in that game but are unbeaten in nine matches across all competitions.
This is the first time these two clubs meet. It’s also Fluminense’s first match ever against an Italian team. Inter have only faced a Brazilian team once before, they lost to Santos in 1969.
Inter are strong in attack and usually win when they score. They’ve scored twice or more in six of their last eight games. Fluminense have a solid defence and haven’t let in a second-half goal in their last seven matches.
Key players to watch include Inter’s Nicolò Barella and Fluminense’s 44-year-old goalkeeper Fábio. Inter could be missing several players due to injuries, while Fluminense are also without a few, including new signing Yeferson Soteldo.
