Red Bull Racing Opts for Ford over Honda in 2026 F1 Season

Indecisiveness and Frustration Spark Change in Engine Supplier for Red Bull

The energy drink-owned team, has officially severed ties with Honda, opting to join forces with Ford for the 2026 Formula 1 regulations. The move was spurred by Honda’s indecisiveness, according to former F1 driver, Christijan Albers.

Despite the Red Bull-Ford partnership, Honda remains committed to being a full engine supplier in the upcoming season. Albers suggests that Red Bull, who previously recruited talent from Mercedes to improve their Honda engine, may still have some involvement with Honda, despite putting their own “sticker” on the engine.

Confusion surrounds Red Bull’s decision to move away from Honda, given the Japanese manufacturer’s recent announcement to stay in the sport. Albers believes that they simply became exhausted with Honda’s wavering, calling their actions “indecisive.”

While they may have to make adjustments due to the budget cap, Albers remains confident in their ability to cope, as they are a “rich team” with the budget to make exceptions. He also dismisses the idea of Red Bull’s sister team, Alpha Tauri, conducting research in the wind tunnel as a solution, due to fear of being caught.

In conclusion, Red Bull‘s decision to partner with Ford instead of Honda was influenced by Honda’s indecisiveness and their frustration with the situation. Despite the change in engine supplier, they remain a strong competitor in the sport.
