A New Era Begins for the Paolites After Challenging Season
Hibernians Football Club has announced a mutual agreement to part ways with first-team coach, Andrea Pisanu. The news follows a disappointing 2-1 defeat against rivals Balzan, which marked the fourth consecutive loss for the Paolites and put their European football aspirations in jeopardy.
The team currently sits in sixth place on 30 points, level with Balzan and five points behind Birkirkara, who hold the final qualification spot for the UEFA Conference League.
Pisanu joined Hibernians at the start of the season, stepping in to replace Stefano Sanderra who left for Italy to take the reins at the Primavera team of SS Lazio.
Despite a challenging season, the Italian coach managed to lead the team to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League and lift the BOV Super Cup by defeating Floriana in a dramatic penalty shootout.
In a statement, Hibernians FC thanked Pisanu for his professionalism and gentlemanly conduct during his brief stint with the club.
“The club takes this opportunity to thank Mr. Pisanu for the professionalism and gentlemanly conduct shown during his short spell at the club and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors,” the statement read.
Pisanu’s departure marks the end of a difficult season for Hibernians FC, who now must regroup and refocus their efforts on securing a spot in European competition. The club will soon begin its search for a new coach to lead the team forward and capitalize on the promise shown during Pisanu’s tenure.
As one chapter closes, another opens for Hibernians FC, and the club will be eager to build on its successes and continue its upward trajectory. The team and its fans will be looking to the future with renewed hope and optimism as they strive to reclaim their place among the top teams in Maltese football.
