Robin van Persie has reportedly been sacked as Feyenoord manager following an up-and-down season at the Rotterdam club, according to several Dutch media outlets including De Telegraaf and Voetbal International.
The 42-year-old guided Feyenoord to a second-place finish in the Eredivisie, securing Champions League football for next season, but his time at the club was far from smooth. A particularly difficult spell between October and January saw Feyenoord win just three games in 14 across all competitions, and the team finished a massive 19 points behind champions PSV.
Van Persie’s departure comes as part of a wider shake-up at the club. New technical director Devy Rigaux, a former Club Brugge executive, joined just a week ago alongside incoming general manager Robert Eenhoorn, who takes up his role in July. Both men replace Dennis te Kloese, who left Feyenoord for Monterrey at the end of the season. Rigaux made it clear from the outset that no position at the club was safe, including that of the manager.
Van Persie had originally joined Feyenoord in February 2025, taking over from the sacked Brian Priske. He made a bright start, winning eight of his first ten league games and finishing third in his first partial season. However, a poor European campaign, losing six of eight Europa League games, and inconsistent domestic form gradually eroded supporter confidence, with fans openly calling for his dismissal towards the end of the season.
In total, Van Persie leaves Feyenoord having won 30 and drawn 19 of his 58 games in charge.
