Enrico Scerri and Kirsten Aquilina took part in the Romanian Darts Festival held this weekend in Bucharest.
Both players who play for Żejtun Laċċi had a very good performance in all the competitions that they participated in.
Scerri and Aquilina started their commitments in the Men’s Pairs by advancing to the last 32 after ousting British duo Darren Williams and Lee Hunter 3-0. In the top 32 there were eliminated by Belgians Sybren Gibels and Kevin Van Wauwe 3-1.
The following day both Scerri and Aquilina were also active in the Men’s singles with the former advancing till the third round after a score of 4-3 against Maxime Vastnaekel and a top 4-0 result against Dorin Ravar. Scerri was then eliminated by Matthew Dickinson 4-3.
On the other hand, Kirsten Aquilina had to bow to the superiority of Dean Fitch 4-1.
Aquilina had an outstanding performance as he managed to advance five rounds after wins against Andrew Gurr (4-3), Dragos Dumitrescu (4-1), Matthew Frazer (4-1), Philip Van Gasse (4-1) and Scott John (4-3). He was then eliminated by Aaron Turner 4-1 in the top 16.
Meanwhile, Enrico Scerri managed to go through the third round as he won 4-3 against Elod Nagy, 4-0 against John Wightman but had to succumb to an unlucky 4-3 result against Danny Trueman.
