Ukrainian boxer and world champion, Oleksandr Usyk, was taken into custody at an airport in Krakow while en route to London for the Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois fight.
Videos showed him being led away in handcuffs, but he later clarified on social media that it was a misunderstanding and he had been released. Usyk thanked everyone for their support, including Ukrainian diplomats and the Polish law enforcers who handled the situation professionally. His promoter also confirmed that it was not an arrest and Usyk is now free.

Usyk’s wife, Yekaterina, shared the incident on her Instagram, assuring everyone that her husband was not in any legal trouble. The 37-year-old fighter is known for his bravery, both inside and outside the ring, as he has supported his country’s army and helped with humanitarian aid. He is scheduled to attend Joshua’s fight on Saturday and will also reunite with Tyson Fury at a fan event.
However, there were speculations that Usyk could potentially face a rematch against Fury, but he had to vacate his IBF belt to proceed with the December fight. In the meantime, he will be watching his friend Dubois defend the title against Joshua at Wembley Stadium.
