The team, composed of Mark Spiteri, Danial Swift, Dennis Mercieca, and Kenneth Arpa, had a stellar start, finishing Day 1 in 3rd place after posting a national seniors team record of 2,493 pins over three games, with an average of 207.8. This put them ahead of strong competitors such as England and Finland.
On Day 2, Finland and England produced strong performances, with England narrowly overtaking Malta by 27 pins (4,886 vs 4,859) to claim 4th place. Despite this, Malta’s six-game total of 4,859 established a new national record for a seniors 4-man team. Key contributors were Mark Spiteri and Kenneth Arpa, averaging 216 and 211, while Danial Swift and Dennis Mercieca supported with averages of 195 and 187, respectively.
Sweden won the championship by defeating Italy 851-813 in the final, but Malta’s record-breaking performance and top-5 finish marked a significant achievement in their competitive journey.
