Għaxaq maintained their perfect record in the First Division National Bocci Championship after securing their ninth consecutive victory of the season, defeating Buġibba 21-15 to further consolidate their position at the top of the standings.

The league leaders have enjoyed an outstanding campaign so far and remain the only side with a 100 per cent record after nine rounds of competition. Their latest success allows them to keep a one-point advantage over nearest challengers St. Peter’s Żabbar.

St. Peter’s Żabbar also continued their strong form, overcoming Santa Venera 21-10 to remain firmly in second place. Meanwhile, Msida strengthened their hold on third position following an important 21-15 away victory against Żejtun.

Elsewhere, Birkirkara claimed a comfortable 21-6 win over San Ġwann, while Żurrieq produced one of the most dominant performances of the round with a convincing 21-5 success against Lija. Qormi San Bastjan also enjoyed a productive outing, defeating Żebbuġ 21-4.
With only two rounds remaining before the conclusion of the first phase of the championship, attention is increasingly turning towards the battle at the lower end of the table. Several teams remain separated by only a handful of points, setting the stage for an intense fight to improve their positions before the second phase begins.
