Michel Curmi wins nail-biting final

Michel Curmi managed to win one of the most nail-biting finals of the Blackball Nations Cup qualifiers when he defeated Johan Grixti 10-9. Curmi was losing trailing 9-2 and everything seemed that Grixti would get a comfortable victory in the over 50 final. But Curmi had a great reaction where he won eight consecutive frames so that apart from winning this dramatic final, he also achieved a place in the Maltese national team that will participate in Bridlington next month. In the other finals, Mevrick Zammit won another hard-fought final against Clint Azzopardi 10-9 in the men’s category while Christian Spiteri was better than Matthias Debono so much so that he won 9-5 in the under-23 final. Nick Muscat beat Steven Muscat 9-7 in the under 18 final while Lee Grima was successful in the over 40 final after a 10-6 win against Kevin Schembri.
