The group stage of the “Champion of Malta” Blackball competition concluded yesterday, with the players advancing to the knockout rounds now confirmed.
The action continues today with the Pre-Last 16 Playoff, followed by the Last 16. Players who finished second in their respective groups will take on those who placed third, while the group winners have already booked their places in the Last 16.
Among those making impressive progress are Mervick Zammit, Miguel Mizzi, Ryan Pisani, Clayton Castaldi, Jason Mangion, Clint Azzopardi and Johan Attard. All seven players won every match in their respective groups to finish with a maximum 12 points.
From this point onwards, the competition moves into a straight knockout format, meaning one defeat will bring a player’s campaign to an end. With the stakes now significantly higher, today’s matches are expected to produce plenty of competitive action as the players battle for a place in the latter stages.
The Champion of Malta final is scheduled for Tuesday, 15 September, with the match getting underway at 7:00pm. The final will be broadcast live on TVM Sport+.
