Sliema Beach Soccer crowned national champions after thrilling final

Sliema Beach Soccer clinched the Maltese National Beach Soccer Championship following a dramatic 7-6 victory over Ħamrun Spartans in an electrifying final held at Pretty Bay, Birżebbuġa.

The match kept the large crowd on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Sliema dominated the opening stages and quickly built a 3-0 lead. Ħamrun responded in the second half, steadily reducing the deficit despite trailing for most of the match and showing relentless determination.

The Blues capitalized on defensive errors from their opponents and managed to make the most of their chances throughout the match. Captain Matthew Agius, Saturday Nanapere, and Vincenzo Margiotta each scored twice, while an own goal by Chris Baker further contributed to Sliema’s tally.

Ħamrun remained competitive thanks to a brace from Daniel Zerafa, with additional goals from Lee Joe Schembri, Tobi Hakiti, Nezar Abouaisha, and Chris Baker making it a close contest.

At the end of the match, Malta Beach Soccer Association president Mauro Camilleri presented the championship trophy to Sliema captain Matthew Agius.

The match was officiated by referees Andrea Naudi and Igor Kankaras.
