The seventh edition of the Malta Beach Soccer Championship kicks off next Monday and will once again be held at Pretty Bay in Birżebbuġa, with both men’s and women’s competitions taking place throughout the month.
Seven teams will compete in the men’s event: Spartans Selection, Hamrun, Sliema, La Playa De Arena, Phoenix FC, W/A Agency and Costa Viola. Five teams will take part in the women’s championship: Skill and Passion, Birkirkara FC, Sliema, Parr Mela Rockets and Ballun FC.
On the opening day, Monday 1 June, Hamrun SC take on Costa Viola at 6.00pm, followed by Sliema against Spartans at 7.15pm, and W/A Agency versus Phoenix at 8.30pm. The women’s competition gets under way the following day, Tuesday 2 June, with Birkirkara facing Skill and Passion at 6.00pm and Parr Mela Rockets meeting Ballun FC at 7.15pm.
Men’s matches will be played every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the women’s fixtures will take place every Tuesday and Thursday. As the championship draws to a close, a Final 4 stage will decide which two sides contest the national title.

Malta Beach Soccer Association president Mauro Camilleri Darmanin said he was delighted with the number of teams that had signed up this year, adding that it was a clear sign of beach soccer’s growing popularity in Malta. He is expecting a high-quality championship with competitive matches and plenty of entertaining action for spectators at Pretty Bay throughout June.
