Former 11th pick from the 2009 NBA draft, Terrence Williams was sentenced to 10 years in prison for defrauding the league’s medical system and stealing five million dollars.
The basketball player who briefly played in Europe in the jersey of Turk Telekom organized a scheme in the period from 2017 to 2021 in which he used the players’ health insurance and social protection programs of the National Basketball Association.
As the “New York Post” reports, the former member of the New Jersey Nets, Houston, Sacramento and Boston pleaded guilty.
Williams and 17 other former NBA players submitted false medical claims that were not actually submitted to them.
The investigation established that the former Nets basketball player earned about five million dollars through these frauds.
