At the opening of the new season in the NBA League, Boston welcomed Philadelphia in its TD Garden and celebrated with a score of 126:117, and a physical confrontation between Marcus Smart and Joel Embiid was prevented.
After the unsportsmanlike move of the center Seventisixers, Embiid, when he elbowed one of the best defenders in the league, Marcus, the players prevented, by all accounts, a fierce conflict that could have broken out between the two.
After reviewing the video, the judges, to the surprise of everyone present, awarded a technical foul to Smart.
“I tried to steal the ball from him, a completely normal move, I had an opportunity to do something like that.” The referee called a foul in his favor, I stopped there, but Embiid then tried to break my arm because he wouldn’t let me go. The referee gave me a technical foul, unbelievable. I could have broken his head, but I didn’t, that’s the maturity we have, we continued to play as if nothing had happened,’ said the Celtics defender after the match.
Twenty-six-year-old Smart has been with the Celtics his entire career, since the 2014 draft.
