Scariolo: Congratulations to Dusko and Red Star, we didn't deserve to win

The coach of Virtus from Bologna, Sergio Scariolo, points out that his team did not deserve to win yesterday’s match against Red Star in Belgrade.

The team from Bologna lost yesterday in Belgrade with a score of 83:74 and thus recorded their seventh defeat in the Euroleague so far.

In the “Aleksandar Nikolić” hall, the Red and Whites registered their fourth consecutive triumph in Europe’s elite club competition and before the eternal derby with Partizan they have a score of 5-6.

“We could have done better and more. We had a good first 15-17, then there was a distraction, we lost our concentration in the last minutes of the first half, they scored too many points then. We had too many turnovers, we allowed them to score, their shooting percentage shows that our defense had its ups and downs. We didn’t deserve to win.

Congratulations Dusko and Red Star. We have to move on, we hope that the players will return soon and that we will be better,” Scariolo said and continued:

“We attacked the racquet, we have the bodies for it, we were aggressive, that’s why so many points from shots. It is true that we had a relatively small number of field goals, we should have passed the ball less and looked for easier passes more, instead of trying harder. We knew that they steal the ball well, we prepared for that, but unfortunately, we didn’t do a good job.”

Sergio Scariolo’s team will host Olympiakos in Piraeus in the next round.
