The coach of the Denver Nuggets, Mike Malone, was satisfied with the performance of his players at the start of the final series against Miami.
Mike Malone told the players in the locker room after the match that they can play even better, and at the press conference, he dedicated a large part of his presentation to Nikola Jokic.
“Nikola didn’t even look at the statistics when he entered the dressing room. He is not interested in statistics, the only thing that matters to him is that we took a 1:0 lead in the series,’ said Malone.
The Denver coach had something to say about the fact that in the first half, Jokic shot only three times, but on the other hand he had 10 assists.
“That’s Jokic, he never pushes. They tried to stop him, but he saw their intention and decided to outplay the rest of the team. That’s his game. He always plays the right way and makes everyone around him better players, he just enjoys assists. We all understand that he is the main link in our victories.’
He also conveyed what he said to the players in the dressing room.
“I told them that winning is the most important thing, but that we can’t let Miami make runs like tonight. If we want the title, we have to play all 48 minutes at the highest level. We didn’t start well in the last quarter, they got close to nine points behind, but we stayed calm and got the job done,’ said Malone.
