Athleta Basketball Club announced the signing of Daniel Mayfield for the 2026/27 season.
The club said the 6’8” forward joined from Mississippi Valley State University, where he spent last season competing in the SWAC in NCAA Division I basketball.
According to Athleta, Mayfield led the Delta Devils in both rebounding and blocked shots, averaging 13.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game across 28 starts. The club also noted that in conference play he averaged 14 points and six rebounds while shooting 45 per cent from the field.
Mayfield also earned a place on the Rainbow Classic All-Tournament Team in Honolulu, where Athleta said he averaged 23.5 points and 8.5 rebounds across two games.
The club highlighted his rebounding, rim protection and physical presence as qualities expected to strengthen their squad for the season ahead.
