San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich followed the Eurobasket live from Milan, and for the Italian Sky Sport, he compared the NBA league with the Euroleague.
The American watched the duel between Italy and Greece, where two NBA players, Simone Fontecchio and Giannis Antetokounmpo, played.
“Ten years ago, American basketball was based on three-pointers and dunks. With the arrival of basketball on European television, I think everyone was excited about it. European basketball has many more movements without the ball, the two worlds were separated for a long time, but now they are getting closer. Especially we coaches and managers are beginning to understand this. We learned that we should go back to the basics”, said Gregg Popovich.
Gregg also talked about the recipe for winning.
“We coaches are always looking for players who can be good teammates. Those who can go beyond their individuality. The group is more important than the individual. If you are a good teammate, then you have a better chance of creating that feeling of a team that can create passion and mutual respect in the locker room. That gives you a better chance to win.”
