Eight legendary figures in basketball, including Pau Gasol, Dawn Staley, and Coach Mike Krzyzewski, have officially been inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame during a special ceremony held in Bahrain on 17 May. The event took place alongside the FIBA Mid-Term Congress 2025, making it a truly memorable occasion.
This year’s Hall of Fame class includes seven outstanding players and one highly respected coach:
- Alphonse Bilé (Côte d’Ivoire)
- Andrew Bogut (Australia)
- Leonor Borrell (Cuba)
- Pau Gasol (Spain)
- Ticha Penicheiro (Portugal)
- Ratko Radovanovic (Serbia)
- Dawn Staley (USA)
- Coach Mike Krzyzewski (USA)
Speaking at the ceremony, FIBA Hall of Famer Predrag Stojakovic reflected on the honour, saying:
“It’s all about the journey. It’s been a long and humbling path, full of memories and pride for the teams and country I represented.”
Former Australian star Michele Timms also shared her thoughts:
“Being part of the Hall of Fame is incredibly special. It means your legacy will always be part of the sport’s history, and that’s what makes it so meaningful.”
FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis celebrated the moment, saying:
“With this year’s class, we now have 200 members in the Hall of Fame. These eight individuals have inspired us all and truly deserve this recognition. They are not only Hall of Famers – they are part of the FIBA family forever.”
As part of the 2025 ceremony, FIBA also revealed a new visual identity for the Hall of Fame. The updated design pays tribute to the basketball courts where these legends built their careers and symbolises the legacy they leave behind for future generations.
