Fenerbahce coach Dimitris Itoudis summed up his impressions after the 1st round of the Euroleague and the triumph over Olimpia Milano.
In the 1st round, the Turkish team won 85:92 after overtime in Ulker Arena.
“First of all, I congratulate my players. We had some moments, we talked in the dressing room during halftime after a nervous start.
Milano was hitting everything, and we tried to position ourselves much better defensively and take the lead. For such a difficult match, we managed to gain a nine-to-ten point advantage on two occasions, but Milano always came back.” said Itoudis, then added:
“We forced them into 19 turnovers and we knew it had to pay off. In the end, we managed to stop them. We grabbed the victory, even though it’s only October, we managed to punish their flaws.”
He also spoke about the game of Georgios Papagiannis, who made his debut for Fenerbahce.
“I am very happy because he is with the team. Obviously, he has to improve certain elements, we had a few selfish attacks. Georgios helps us both on the internal and external lines. Overall, we can still improve, the important thing is that we won and we will work on it.” concluded Itoudis.
Fener hosts Valencia in the next round and then welcomes Panathinaikos.
