On Sunday, January 12th, the first edition of the Maypole Family Run/Walk took place in Għar Barka, Rabat, Malta. More than 220 athletes participated in this event.
Each participant contributed towards a donation to the Action for Breast Cancer Foundation, which currently supports the purchase of Cool Caps to help patients who are experiencing hair loss during chemotherapy sessions.
Despite unfavourable weather conditions, there was a great turnout with athletes eagerly attending this activity. The 5 km race had a participation of at least 80 athletes, including both men and women.
In the men’s category, Ronald Camilleri secured first place, followed by Ryan Farrugia and Stephen Cassar.
In the women’s category, Cherylie Farrugia claimed the first position, with Elaine D’Amato taking second place and Elaine Aquilina in third.
This event was organised under the auspices of ACES Malta within ACES Europe, an international association that strives to promote sports activities and culture within the community at large.
