Polish trio complete all three races
Cassar and Schembri win the Half Marathon
The first edition of the Running Europe Tour ended this morning in Malta, where more than 1,300 athletes took part in the lively Żurrieq Half Marathon & 10K. After beginning in Warsaw and continuing in Palermo, the international series finished its debut season on the Maltese islands, staying true to its aim of bringing together cities, cultures and runners from across Europe.
One of the day’s most touching moments was the recognition of three Polish runners who completed all three stages of the 2025 tour: Marta Klekot, Artur Jasiński and Bogusław Mamiński – the well-known steeplechase silver medallist and founder of Biegnij Warszawo. They were awarded the official title of Running Europe Tour Finishers 2025, marking not just a sporting achievement but a symbol of unity across Europe.

VOICES FROM THE FINISH LINE
Joe Micallef, Race Director of the Malta Marathon, looked ahead positively:
“We are honoured to host the final stage of the tour, and even prouder that from 2026 the LifeStar Malta Marathon will officially open the Running Europe Tour. It’s a great chance to welcome runners from all over Europe and show them the best of Malta from the very first race.”
Bogusław Mamiński, founder of the Warsaw race, said:
“The Running Europe Tour has proved that sport can bring cities and people together across borders. This project is about friendship, culture and a shared love of running. Seeing three Polish athletes complete every stage is something we are proud of.”
Nando Sorbello, organiser of the Palermo International Half Marathon and co-founder of the tour, added:
“This first edition ends with strong momentum and even bigger ambitions. We have created a network of races that celebrates not only competition but also the beauty and identity of each place. Malta provided a brilliant finale that shows the real potential of this project.”
