Over the past few years, Malta’s archery scene has seen significant growth, with local clubs and associations playing a key role in promoting the sport. Archery in Malta (AIM) has been at the forefront of this development, establishing two dedicated training ranges: an indoor, accessible facility in Paola, and an outdoor range in San Ġwann.
AIM focuses on traditional and instinctive archery while also introducing innovative experiences, such as archery on horseback and kayak archery, which were first brought to Malta in 2022. The organization’s slogan, “Driven by passion. Defined by innovation,” reflects its mission to make archery both accessible and inspiring for everyone, from beginners to competitive athletes.

At the same time, the Malta Field Archery Association (MFAA) continues to represent Maltese archers internationally as a member of the Archery Association Europe (AAE) and the International Field Archery Association (IFAA).
Maltese athletes have achieved notable success abroad, including podium finishes at the Irish Indoor Championships and strong showings at the Spanish Bowhunter Championships.
Looking ahead, several Maltese archers, including AIM representatives and MFAA Vice President Tony Galea, are set to compete at the European Indoor Championships in Ireland in March 2026, marking another milestone for Malta on the European field archery stage.

Key goals for the coming year include:
- Expanding Malta’s presence in international field archery competitions.
- Developing youth and beginner training programs locally.
- Building partnerships to make archery more inclusive and sustainable across the country.
With these initiatives, Malta’s archery community continues to grow steadily, combining tradition, innovation, and a strong sense of community.
The sport’s increasing visibility highlights local talent and passion, positioning archery as an engaging option for both recreational and competitive athletes alike.
