AIPS Young Reporters Programme wraps up at UEFA U19 Euros in Romania

The sixth edition of the AIPS Young Reporters Programme, held during the UEFA Under-19 Championship in Romania, officially came to a close with a certificate ceremony at the Romanian Football Federation headquarters.

After over 50 hours of lectures and more than 50 published articles on the AIPS website, 12 young journalists received certificates from Răzvan Burleanu (President of the Romanian Football Federation) and Philip Townsend (UEFA Communications Director).

The programme, which started on 11 June, saw these aspiring reporters guided by experienced mentors Martin Mazur and Riccardo Romani, as they worked through hands-on assignments — even overcoming challenges like a surprise moth invasion!

Participants also attended sessions led by UEFA professionals from various departments, including:

  • Zoran Bahtijarević (Medical & Anti-Doping)
  • Bjorn Kuipers (Refereeing)
  • Tim Thormann (Social & Sustainability)
  • Alexis Thiebart (Venue Media)
  • Joseph Walker and Julien Thorens (Media & PR)

The group visited top locations such as:

  • The National Arena – Romania’s largest stadium
  • National Football Centre in Mogoșoaia
  • Digi Sport TV studios
  • The Ceauşescu Mansion

Aside from writing for AIPS, the young reporters also contributed stories to media outlets in their home countries.
