Glen Micallef the Maltese Commissioner for intergenerational fairness, youth, culture and sport expressed his opinion in the public following the controversy surrounding FIFA’s decision to suspend US forward Folarin Balogun’s one-game ban. It has been reported that US President Donald Trump has personally called in Gianni Infantino to close an eye and twist the regulations so that US forward Folarin Balogun would be eligible in the Round of 16 game against Belgium.

Glenn Micallef said in the Sky News interview with renowned journalist Yalda Hakim: “The real question is where does this end? Because today, we’re discussing a red card. We’re discussing a ban. Tomorrow, we could be discussing which referee officiates… And I don’t think that should be the case.”
