Donald Trump has claimed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup generated more than $18 billion for the US economy and supported over 160,000 jobs.
The US president shared the figures on his Truth Social account while highlighting what he described as a strong summer for travel and tourism across the country.

Trump also pointed to wider economic and tourism figures, including millions of visitors to US national parks and significant domestic travel. He argued that the World Cup had provided a major boost to businesses and communities across the United States through increased tourism, investment and employment.
He added that his administration is working to reduce bureaucracy, modernise air travel and make it easier for people to visit the country and conduct business.
