FIFA WORLD CUP 2026 – ROUND OF 32
SWITZERLAND…2
ALGERIA…………0
Switzerland secured their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Algeria at BC Place in Vancouver.

The Swiss took control early when Breel Embolo opened the scoring in the 10th minute, giving his side the perfect start. Algeria struggled to respond as Switzerland dominated possession and created the better chances throughout the first half.
Any hopes of an Algerian comeback were ended just a minute after the restart when Dan Ndoye doubled Switzerland’s advantage in the 46th minute, finishing off a swift attacking move to make it 2-0.
Switzerland remained organised defensively and comfortably managed the remainder of the match, denying Algeria any clear opportunities while seeing out the result with confidence.

The victory sends Switzerland into the last 16, where they will continue their bid for a deep run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while Algeria’s tournament comes to an end after a spirited but ultimately unsuccessful campaign.
