Saibari strikes early as Morocco edges Scotland

Morocco took a major step towards the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup after beating Scotland 1-0 in a tense Group C encounter.

The Atlas Lions made the perfect start, with Ismael Saibari finding the net after just over a minute. His early strike proved decisive, giving Morocco control of the contest and forcing Scotland to chase the game almost from the first whistle.

It was a damaging blow for Steve Clarke’s side, who struggled to settle after conceding so early. Scotland improved as the match went on and tried to push Morocco deeper, but they lacked the final pass and clear edge in the penalty area.

Morocco, semi-finalists in the last World Cup, once again showed their maturity on the big stage. They managed the rhythm well, kept possession for long spells, and limited Scotland’s attacking threat for most of the match.

Scotland did have moments late on, with the Tartan Army urging their team forward, but Morocco’s defence stood firm to protect a narrow lead.

For Morocco, this was not only a win but a statement of control and discipline. Saibari has now become one of the standout names of their campaign, delivering another important contribution when his team needed it most.
