France forward Kylian Mbappé stands on the brink of matching one of football’s rarest World Cup records as Les Bleus continue their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign.
According to FIFA, Mbappé could become only the second player in history to appear in three consecutive World Cup finals, joining Brazilian legend Cafu.
Cafu achieved the feat with Brazil in 1994, 1998 and 2002, lifting the trophy twice and cementing his place among the game’s greatest captains. Mbappé has already featured in the finals of 2018 and 2022, winning the World Cup in Russia before finishing runner-up to Argentina four years later.
