Following Turkey’s disappointing early exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Juventus forward Kenan Yıldız has begun his summer break by returning to his hometown of Regensburg, Germany, where he will spend time with family while recovering from a persistent knee injury.
The 21-year-old’s World Cup campaign was significantly disrupted by ongoing patellar tendinopathy, an issue that has continued to trouble him in recent months. With the tournament now behind him, Yıldız’s immediate priority is to rest and focus on his rehabilitation before returning to club duty.

Throughout his time in the United States, the Juventus attacker underwent an intensive treatment programme designed to manage the condition and alleviate discomfort. According to Tuttosport, he is expected to report back to the club’s Continassa training centre around 20 July, approximately three weeks after his final World Cup appearance, in which he completed 84 minutes despite the injury.
Upon his return, Juventus’ medical staff will conduct a comprehensive assessment to determine the extent of the problem and establish an appropriate training schedule ahead of the new campaign.
With the Bianconeri facing another demanding season expected to include more than 50 competitive fixtures, the club is determined to ensure Yıldız is fully fit before returning to action. As a result, surgery has not been ruled out as a long-term solution should conservative treatment fail to resolve the issue.
While an operation remains only one of several options under consideration, any decision will be made jointly by the player, his representatives and Juventus. Undergoing surgery would inevitably delay his return and could impact his availability at the start of the Serie A season.
A clearer picture is expected to emerge over the coming weeks once Yıldız returns to Turin, when Juventus will determine whether their number 10 can feature from the opening stages of the campaign or whether a more cautious recovery plan will be required.
