FIFA and Global Citizen have announced that global music star Justin Bieber will co-headline the inaugural FIFA World Cup 2026™ Final Halftime Show, scheduled to take place at New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, 19 July 2026.
Bieber joins an all-star line-up featuring Madonna, Shakira and BTS for the first-ever halftime show at a FIFA World Cup™ final. Nigerian artist Burna Boy will also perform during the 11-minute broadcast, alongside internationally renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the award-winning PS 22 Chorus, with Coldplay also taking part in the production.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino said Bieber’s participation reinforces the event’s wider purpose of supporting the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to improve access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world.
Infantino added that Burna Boy, Dudamel and the PS 22 Chorus featuring Coldplay will help deliver a message of unity and hope to billions of viewers. Curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, the halftime show is designed to celebrate the shared power of football and music while leaving a lasting legacy beyond the tournament.
The show will also raise awareness and funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which has set a target of USD 100 million to support education and football initiatives worldwide. More than USD 50 million has already been secured, with USD 1 from every FIFA World Cup 2026 match ticket contributing to the initiative and its social projects.
Bieber said he was honoured to be part of the historic event, adding that he was especially pleased the halftime show is already helping expand educational opportunities for children across the globe.
Burna Boy described the FIFA World Cup as one of the few occasions capable of bringing the entire world together, saying it was both a privilege and a responsibility to represent Africa during the first-ever World Cup Final Halftime Show. He added that he was proud to support an event that combines football, culture and education.
The production will also feature beloved characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets, highlighting the event’s focus on promoting quality education for children worldwide.
Produced by Global Citizen in partnership with Live Nation and Done + Dusted, the halftime show was unveiled in a promotional film narrated by Chris Martin, who described the spectacle as a celebration of togetherness that welcomes everyone.
Earlier this year, FIFA and Global Citizen announced the first organisations to receive grants from the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The funding will support programmes providing education and football opportunities to children in underserved communities across ten countries.
Through investment in community-led initiatives that combine sport, education and local engagement, the fund aims to expand learning opportunities, improve educational outcomes and create lasting pathways for young people.
The advisory board of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund includes FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans, singer Shakira, actor Hugh Jackman, entrepreneur Ivanka Trump, musician The Weeknd, tennis legend Serena Williams, Brazilian football great Kaká and Bank of America Co-President Jim DeMare.
The initiative also forms part of FIFA’s Unite for Education campaign, which highlights football’s ability to drive social change throughout the FIFA World Cup 2026. During the Round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals, players will wear Unite for Education sleeve patches to promote the Education Fund, the FIFA Football for Schools Programme and education projects supported by the FIFA Foundation.
