Ferrari are set to become the first Formula 1 team to drive on the new Madrid street circuit, giving them a valuable head start ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will take part in a filming day at the Madring on Thursday, allowing Ferrari to collect important information about a track that is completely new to every team.
The test is limited to 200 kilometres under F1 regulations, but Ferrari will still be able to learn more about the circuit layout, braking points, kerbs and track conditions before their rivals get the chance.
The SF-26 will be the first modern Formula 1 car to complete laps around the 5.416-kilometre circuit, which features 22 corners and a unique elevated section.
Both Ferrari drivers will share driving duties as the team begins preparing for the first Spanish Grand Prix to be held at the Madrid venue in September.
The timing of the test is also important for the organisers, as it will provide a chance to check that the circuit and facilities are ready before the race weekend.
While the limited running will not provide a huge amount of data, Ferrari believe the early knowledge could give them a small but useful advantage over their competitors.
