Cunha double helps Brazil cruise past Haiti

Brazil secured their first win of the FIFA World Cup campaign with a 3-0 victory over Haiti, as Matheus Cunha and Vinícius Júnior delivered the damage in a dominant first half.

After being held by Morocco in their opening match, Brazil needed a response. They got it before the break, with Cunha scoring twice in the space of 13 minutes to put Carlo Ancelotti’s side in full control.

Cunha opened the scoring in the 23rd minute before adding a second in the 36th. Vinícius Júnior then added Brazil’s third deep into first-half stoppage time, killing the contest before Haiti had any real chance of a comeback.

Brazil were sharper, quicker and more clinical when it mattered. Vinícius was again central to their attacking play, stretching Haiti’s defence and giving Brazil the direct threat they lacked in their first match.

Haiti battled with pride, but the difference in quality was clear. Their best moments came in spells after the interval, yet Brazil’s defensive structure remained solid enough to protect the clean sheet.

The result moves Brazil onto four points in Group C and strengthens their position ahead of their final group match against Scotland. Haiti, meanwhile, are left with no points and are out of contention for the knockout stage.

It was not a perfect Brazil performance, but it was the kind of result they needed. Three goals, a clean sheet and a much more convincing attacking display.
