Portugal winger Francisco Conceição has said there is no pressure within the squad to pass the ball to Cristiano Ronaldo.
His comments come after criticism of Portugal’s performance in their opening World Cup match, a 1-1 draw with DR Congo, where Ronaldo was said to have little impact.
Conceição said players simply make the best decision during matches and pass to whoever is in the best position, not because of status.
He added that Ronaldo is treated like any other player in the squad, while also highlighting his experience and leadership.
“Cristiano is an example because of his career and the goals he still scores,” Conceição said.

Portugal now turn their attention to their second group match against Uzbekistan, where they will be looking for a win to get their campaign back on track.
