FIFA WORLD CUP 2026 – ROUND OF 32
COLOMBIA………1
GHANA………..…0
Colombia booked their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ghana in Kansas City.
Both teams were forced into early substitutions after injuries to Colombia’s Jhon Córdoba and Ghana’s Marvin Senaya. Colombia quickly made the breakthrough as substitute Luis Suárez delivered a cross from the right for Jhon Arias to finish from close range.
Ghana struggled to threaten throughout the first half and failed to register a shot on target before the break. Colombia almost doubled their lead, but Luis Díaz fired wide before Lawrence Ati-Zigi produced an excellent save to deny Johan Mojica.
After the restart, Ghana enjoyed more possession but found it difficult to create clear chances against a well-organised Colombian defence. Colombia continued to look dangerous on the counter-attack, with Ati-Zigi making further saves to keep his side in the contest, while Díaz also had a goal ruled out for offside.

Despite Ghana’s late pressure, Colombia held on to secure a narrow victory and progress to the Round of 16 for the fourth consecutive FIFA World Cup.
