Colombia coach Néstor Lorenzo believes his team’s ability to adapt will be key when they face Switzerland in the World Cup last 16.
The South American side have impressed so far, conceding just one goal in the tournament. Lorenzo believes his players’ understanding of the game allows them to change tactics and handle different situations on the pitch.
“It is important for us to have players who understand the game and know how to react,” Lorenzo said.
Colombia have also faced a difficult travel schedule during the tournament, playing across different cities and dealing with changes in weather and conditions.
Lorenzo admitted the journey has not been easy but said his team must accept the challenge and focus on performing at their best.
Switzerland will provide a difficult test, according to the Colombia boss. He praised Murat Yakin’s side for their organisation, experience and quality in both attack and defence.
“They are a very organised team, with many experienced players. It will be a tough match against a very good team,” Lorenzo said.
Colombia will look to continue their unbeaten run and secure a place in the World Cup quarter-finals when they meet Switzerland.
