Glasgow 2026 has unveiled two new fan attractions ahead of next week’s Commonwealth Games, with the launch of the Commonwealth Mile and the full programme for the Game On Live Site at Kelvingrove Park.
The announcement comes just one week before the Opening Ceremony, as organisers prepare to welcome athletes and supporters from across the Commonwealth.
The Commonwealth Mile is a one-mile route stretching from Clyde Place Quay in Tradeston, across the Squiggly Bridge and towards the Scottish Event Campus (SEC). It celebrates the return of the Commonwealth Mile event, with the men’s and women’s finals set to take place at Scotstoun Stadium on Saturday, 1 August.
The route is marked by Glasgow 2026 archways at each end, along with distance markers featuring the Games mascot, Finnie, giving visitors the chance to experience the same distance the athletes will race.
Meanwhile, Kelvingrove Park will host the free Game On Live Site throughout the Games. The venue will offer a wide range of activities for children, families and visitors, including sports sessions, live entertainment, arts and crafts, dance performances and giant screens showing live coverage of the Games.
More than 20 sports will be featured, with local clubs and organisations giving people the opportunity to try different activities and learn new skills. Visitors will also have the chance to meet athletes during the Games, while mascot Finnie will regularly appear to entertain families and lead fun activities.
Louisa Mahon, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for Glasgow 2026, said the city is looking forward to welcoming athletes and fans for what promises to be an exciting celebration of sport.
She said both the Commonwealth Mile and the Game On Live Site are designed to give everyone the opportunity to be part of the Games, with free, family-friendly activities taking place throughout the event.
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will run from 23 July to 2 August, with the Game On Live Site forming part of a wider programme to bring the excitement of the Games to the whole city.
